We recommend that all new or old concrete be washed because before sealing for the following reasons:
1. When new concrete is poured as it cures, it creates a light powder on the surface of the concrete. This powder fills the microscopic pores that our sealer is looking for to penetrate the concrete.
2. When concrete is old the same microscopic pores are full of dirt from daily use.
When washing new or old concrete we recommend the following cleaners:
1. When concrete is new or regular maintenance takes place SealGreen Driveway and Garage floor Cleaner Concentrate is recommended.
2. When the driveway is dirty or has mold we recommend SealGreen Mold and Mildew Remover
3. Both cleaners penetrate the microscopic pores releasing the dirt in the pores, and when rinsing with a pressure washer or garden hose it will empty the pores. Leaving an open pore so that SealGreen Concrete Sealer or SealGreen Brick and Stone Sealer can penetrate the surface and provide a long-lasting life.
The process of using a cleaner prior to washing allows for any pressure washer or garden hose to clean the concrete well without damaging the concrete surface.
When using a pressure washer do not use anything with a pressure above 3,000 Psi. We also recommend using the green tip. (Never use the yellow or red tips)
When using a garden house use a strong stream to rinse.
