We recommend sealing your new patio steps with SealGreen Concrete Sealer with Salt Defense Technology. The recommended application process is as follows for the weather that you describe.
1. Wash the new steps using SealGreen Driveway and Garage Cleaner one day before the sealer application.
2. The next day early in the morning apply the SealGreen Concrete Sealer with Salt Defense Technology.
3. This way the sealer application will have 8 hours of good weather before the weather gets to 30 Degrees.
4. The sealer needs a temperature while curing from 85 degrees down to 45 degrees.
5. After the 8 hours of curing time the steps can be returned to regular traffic use.
Yes, you need to remove the rust stains using SealGreen Rust Remover before you seal the concrete. I suggest washing the new concrete and cleaning the rust stains on the same day and on the following day you can apply the sealer to the new and old concrete steps.
We also suggest using SealGreen Snow and Ice melt specially on concrete steps to provide a safe walking path on snow or icy conditions.
