- Does the concrete need to be dry before applying the sealer remover? Or perhaps just damp?
- No, the concrete does not need to be dry. Use a leaf blower to remove any puddle water.
- Same question for the oil/degreaser remover? Can I apply this after removing acrylic sealer while the concrete is wet or damp?
- Yes, first remove the old sealer. Then while it is still wet apply the oil cleaner degreaser and rinse.
- After applying the stain, is it okay if it rains before I get the sealer on? It might be several days.
- It is best to apply the color when it is dry because you want some absorption into the concrete. It is important to wait at least a day before any rain falls on the wet stain or dry stain.
My recommendation is to go ahead and remove the old sealer and wash the floor. The rain is not going to affect the process as long as it does not rain on the remover during the time is in place. You can leave the concrete open after sealer removal and wash for many days before stain is applied as long as it does not have heavy traffic that can dirty the floor.
I recommend waiting to apply the stain until you have two dry days, and then apply the sealer after two dry days because right now the rain has soaked the concrete heavily and it is going to take some time to dry completely. Excess humidity inside the concrete can create hazing if the sealer is applied and encapsulates the humidity.
So essentially, I should wait 2 days after washing before applying the stain, and then another 2 days for the stain to dry. So I'll need a 4-day stretch without rain. Correct?
Yes it is best.
And, do I need to apply the 2nd coat of sealer on the day immediately after the first coat? Or can the 2nd coat of sealer be spaced out a bit...between rain events?
Apply 1 st coat wait for next day apply second coat it is best.
Second application will remove the left-over sealer. The only color that may come of is the antiquing because it is not a permanent color of the concrete. It can be added later. The main color will remain in place because it is part of the concrete. You can also ad more color after the sealer removal.
