We recommend SealGreen Rust Remover. Since you do not give information about the type of retaining wall material we have to assume that it is one of the following, natural stone, concrete, clay brick, decorative stone, cinder block or split block. The recommended application is for the materials mentioned.
Application Process for a retaining wall:
1. First the wall should be dry. We recommend a small test to understand how long you should leave the rust remover in place before rinsing.
2. Mix the SealGreen Rust Remover according to the instructions on the container.
3. Apply the rust remover with a brush with plastic bristles on an area where you have rust. We suggest a one foot by one foot area.
4. Because the wall is vertical the rust remover gel will try to slide down so you will have to keep moving the gel upwards with the brush applicator.
5. Allow the rust remover to work for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing.
6. Rinse the wall with pressure washer to see if the rust stain was removed.
7. If the test is successful then go ahead and apply the rust remover on the rest of the rust areas. We recommend working in four feet by four feet areas at a time. Application video - https://youtu.be/caaYEQh3cXM
8. CAUTION: Do not leave the rust remover to sit for over 45 minutes or more because it can bleach the surface permanently white.
9. Keep in mind that after you remove all the rust stains you will notice that you may have several clean spots on the wall. We recommend washing the entire wall if this is the case using SealGreen Mold and Mildew Remover.
10. You should also consider sealing the wall to keep it clean and reduce the water penetration and potentially creating more rust stains.
We suggest SealGreen Concrete Concentrate Sealer for concrete materials or SealGreen Brick and Stone concentrate Sealer for natural stone, clay bricks or cinder blocks.
