We recommend a two-step process to clean up the oil spill.
Step One:
Start with SealGreen Oil Cleaner Degreaser, apply heavily to the area and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes so it can penetrate the concrete. Rinse the floor with a pressure washer and a wet/dry shop vacuum or use a floor maintainer. This part of the process will remove the oily base on the surface and about ¼ inch in depth. Allow the floor to dry completely, usually 24 hours before the next step.
Step Two:
Apply SealGreen Waterless Oil Cleaner over the entire stain. The application should be light enough to cover the oil stain. More is not better. Gray-Out contains enzymes that will become active upon application, and they will crawl inside the macroscopic pores, eat the oil inside the concrete, and convert it to CO 2.
Once the enzymes have eaten all the oil they can it will be necessary to apply more Gray-Out powder only in the areas where you can see the oil stain. This process will be repeated, as necessary. Once all the oil is gone the remaining powder will release leaving the concrete clean.
This entire process takes time, it may be weeks, months or years depending on how deep the oil penetrated the concrete or how dense the concrete is.
Note:
SealGreen Gray-Out cleans organic stains. Car oil stains are primarily organic oil except for graphite oils, synthetic oil, hydraulic oils, and other oils that are primarily man made. Heating oils are mostly recycled organic oil.
